An Astrophysicist and Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Florida International University, Dr. Fiorella Terenzi pioneered techniques to convert radio waves emanating from distant galaxies into sound, the goal of her audiofication/sonification of celestial data is to investigate how sound could reflect chemical, dynamical and physical properties of celestial objects, what she calls "Acoustic Astronomy".
Terenzi is a scientist, an astrophysicist who believes in the power and importance of a broad education that involves looking at the world from a variety of angles. She teaches her students to explore the creative side of science. Her lessons are, in fact, based on a unique blend of science and art, knowledge and emotion--a concept that she calls "Emotional Learning," based on Entertainment, Education, Enlightenment, and Enthrallment (the four "E's") to engage her students on multiple levels, so that what they learn is remembered forever.
